What is the difference between toproll and hook?
Toproll is an outside move: you raise your wrist, pronate and pull back to take your opponent's fingers and open their hand. Hook is an inside move: you cup your wrist, supinate and pull your opponent's arm toward your body with side pressure.
What is East vs West armwrestling?
East vs West is a professional armwrestling series of supermatches. Top athletes from Eastern and Western countries face each other over several rounds, with world titles for each weight class and each arm.
How do I start armwrestling training?
Find a local club or table, learn the rules and the basic toproll and hook positions, then build your tendons slowly with wrist, pronation and grip exercises. Most beginner injuries come from too much load too soon.
What are the basic armwrestling rules?
Each athlete keeps their elbow on the pad and holds the peg with the free hand. The referee sets the grip and starts the match with Ready, Go. Fouls include taking the elbow off the pad and false starts. Two fouls lose the match in a WAF tournament, or the round in an East vs West supermatch.
Who runs Voice of Armwrestling?
Coach Ray (Raimonds Liepiņš) and Jānis Jedi Amoliņš from Latvia. Both are coaches and active athletes: Ray is president of the Latvian Armwrestling Federation and national team head coach, Jānis is a WAF world champion, and both compete in East vs West.
